Due to the growing urgency of the antibiotic crisis with antibiotic resistance leaving formerly trusted antibiotic drugs dysfunctional, research is being undertaken to find new producers of antibiotics. The focus of this study was to evaluate whether or not soil from areas affected by fire would be a strong or weak source of antibiotic producers. Out of the microbes isolated from the soil, only one producer was found: Arthrobacter sp. Strain EB74.
