World Antimicrobial
Awareness Week

with Tiny Earth

November 18-24, 2023 | #TinyEarthWAAW

Every year from November 18th to November 24th, Tiny Earth celebrates World AMR Awareness Week (WAAW)—a global campaign led by the World Health Organization to raise awareness and understanding of antimicrobial resistance (AMR). By getting involved in WAAW, the Tiny Earth network has an opportunity to engage the community in reducing the spread of AMR infections through the power of social media and beyond.

This year we invite Tiny Earth students and educators to share their knowledge and creativity by creating and posting an infographic, public service announcement (PSA), story, informative video, meme, or artwork on Twitter/X, Instagram, and/or TikTok!

Follow these prompts for your creations:

  • Make an infographic, diagram, or drawing depicting the mechanism or effects of antimicrobial resistance for a specific pathogen.
  • Highlight someone in the STEM field or your community who has made an impact on microbial education and awareness.
  • Create a Public Service Announcement (PSA) that informs your family and friends about antibiotic resistance and what they can do to prevent it.
  • Design a meme that creatively addresses an aspect of antimicrobial resistance. Let your meme be a powerful tool to convey the importance of preventing AMR!

Those who participate in at least one of the prompts will be entered in a raffle* to win a Tiny Earth sticker, notepad, or reusable shopping bag. You must follow @TinyEarthNet, tag us in your post, and use #TinyEarthWAAW. U.S. resident who are 18 years of age or older are eligible for the raffle.

Non-U.S. Resident are eligible for a chance to win an exclusive Tiny Earth Zoom/web conferencing background or a feature during the Tiny Earth Virtual Winter Symposium.

Stay tuned on our social media platforms during WAAW for daily updates and submission features, and view others’ submissions by searching the hashtag.
