Dr. Altman is an Internal Medicine physician, sub-specializing in Infectious Diseases. Her research focuses on Staphylococcus aureus (S. aureus) pathogenesis, epidemiology, and genomics. She began her study of S. aureus during Internal Medicine residency at New York University and carried her work to fellowship in Infectious Diseases at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai, where she investigates the capabilities of genomics to delineate both intra- and inter-host adaptation. She is the initiator and Project Lead of the collaborative Pathogen Surveillance Program (PSP) which uses genomics to define bacterial diversity at the Mount Sinai Health System.
