Grace Pausma

My name is Grace and I graduated from UW-Madison with a degree in neurobiology and psychology this past December. I joined the Handelsman Lab in my sophomore year of undergrad, initially working on lab maintenance tasks. I have become more involved in Tiny Earth throughout my time here. Through screening TE isolates against the oomycete P. ultimum, which is a plant pathogen, I hope to identify strains that could act as biocontrols by preventing plant disease caused by P. ultimum. Furthermore, these results could lead to the identification of specific anti-oomycete compounds. I look forward to broadening Tiny Earth’s scope with these eukaryote screens.
