Víctor J. Cid is a Professor of Microbiology in the Faculty of Pharmacy at the Complutense University of Madrid (UCM), trained as a postdoc at the University of California at Berkeley. His research is focused on Molecular and Cellular Biology of the yeast Saccharomyces, specifically on cell signaling. He works on “humanized yeast” models for the study of genes related to human disease, such as infectious and inflammatory diseases or cancer. He is a member of the Editorial board of several research journals on the fields of Microbiology and Genetics. He is also a member of the steering committee of the Spanish Society for Microbiology (SEM) and of the FEMS Grant Committee. From the SEM Education and Communication Group, he leads MicroMundo, a Citizen Science Project for the dissemination of the proper use of antibiotics based on a service-learning pedagogic strategy, a partner of the matrix Tiny Earth network in the USA.
